What Was The Last Book You Read?
I used to think this world was filled with people who get lost in a book and people who don’t. I still kind of think that’s true. Many will say I’m too busy to read, but one of the cardinal rules in life is that we make time for what we want.
Which is hard to believe today. We live in a time when getting any information involves many roads. Access to books is at an all time high. I am old school in my preference for the physical book, its a whole ritual to me. Turning and feeling the pages, that being said I also have Kindle on my phone. For those who are busy audiobooks are amazing.
There are apps for that!
- Audible
- Everand
- Libby
Psst..you didn’t hear it from me but you can listen to full audiobooks on YouTube for free!
How Reading Helps You Spiritually
I believe the simplest activities are spiritual. Let’s start with reading. Reading opens your mind to ideas and what is possible. I believe its one of the great tools for Intuitive Living as it connects us to the muscle of imagination. So here are a few books I’ve read that really sparked my spiritual journey.
The Books
A New Earth By Eckhart Tolle
This was the start of my love affair with self-help books and the spiritual life. It can be funny how we find things when we need them the most. It was really through this book I found my zen by connecting to how I was carrying anger and control without realizing it.
Even when we leave toxic situations there is a legacy we take with us. I learned through his teachings what to do with it. It is such a useful book.
101 Essays That Will Change The Way You Think By Brianna Wiest
I am so in awe of Brianna Wiest and when I read this book it was easy to feel connected, it feels like a person or a friend sharing their experiences with you which can tweak your perspectives.
The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz
Whether you just read this one or the whole series (highly suggest it) you will be changed and humbled. It works on Toltec Wisdom and beliefs on how to act and move through life with these core principles
- Be impeccable with your word
- Don’t take anything personally
- Don’t make assumptions
- Always do your best
I actually have this hanging over my desk so I don’t slip up
Becoming Supernatural By Dr. Joe Dispenza
This book changed my meditation view. It does address different methods. If you are like me sitting still is a challenge. I was very skeptical until I read this and all that meditation is capable of. The science is fascinating!
What I’m Reading Currently
As I am physically healing, currently I do a lot of reading (we will go over rest techniques later) right now I am reading “The Mountain Is You”, another Brianna Wiest gem among a few fiction goodies because we all need adventure. What are you reading?
Tootles,
